Russians Take One From North Korea's Playbook

Just this week, Russyan security forces have detained a Japanese citizen in the Kurile Islands, north of Japan and still contested after 70+ years.  Russya seized the islands in mid-August 1945 when WW II was at its end.  The paranoid Russyans, reflecting Stalin's own paranoia, seized them when the US and other Allies weren't looking in their direction.  Given their east coast location, most Russyans don't even know of the existence of these barren rocks.  They will get more attention next month when Prime Minister Abe of japan meets Pres. Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, president of the largest country in the world, meet in Vladivostok for talks about: economic goals; energy sources; trade; foreign exchange rates; American football; 2020 Olympics in Japan; Girls; Pokemon'; and of course, the Middle east and Syria.
Japanese diplomats have requested a meeting to discuss the fate of the citizen captured by Russyan security thugs.  Japan has long protested North Korea's activities in this area.
