Movie Review: Chef

Is it a Road Trip?  Is it a foodie tale of fantastic cooking?   Is it a comedy?  Is it a drama?  Or a combination of all of the above?   It's a little of everything.   Jon Favreau has done a job, actually, he's done a lot of jobs:  actor, director, screen writer, editor.  But, additionally, it's about social media; in this case-Twitter and how it works in many cases.
The beginning involves a contest of wills between Chef Faveau and restaurant owner Dustin Hoffman who doesn't want to give up menu control to the "hired" chef.   Throw in a food critic and the table is set for fireworks which get the chef fired or just mad enough to quit.   Next step, Food truck!
The trip back to California begins in Miami, FL and follows the trio: father, son, and mainstay support cook from coast -to-coast.  Across the souther states with stops in N'Orleans, Austin,TX, and back to LA and its food scene at the beach.   There's a happy, feel good ending.   The sound track features some fine Cuban tunes and enough soul music for the more experienced listener.
4 Stars if you have eaten recently, 5 stars if you're hungry.
