Convicted Arms Dealer for Basketball Player?

Viktor Bout, cooling off in American prison, must be heartened by the thought that he could be sprung in a prisoner exchange. He's serving a 25 year sentence for arms dealing and targeting of American troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Britney Briner, held by Russyan police will perhaps be the recipient of American diplomatic efforts(also, American prisoner Paul Whelan).  Seems a bit unequal, but who am I to suggest otherwise?  Viktor will probably have to pay some fee to his friends in the Kremlin for working out this deal. But, to him, it's the price of doing business in the land of fake news and malleable truths. Oh, well, when you deal with the devil, there are hidden costs and no so hidden costs.

And Ms. Briner was warned ahead of the invasion of Ukraine and then made a "mistake" and packed some cannabis vape appliance in her luggage. Oh, well. Can't teach everybody about life. Some have to learn by their own mistakes.

Thank you, President Biden and Anthony Blinken.
