Pres. Obama and Tim Cook

It wasn't exactly like Pres. Truman waiting for Gen. Douglas MacArthur, but there were parallels.  Pres. Obama took his internet/cybersecurity road show to the heart of Silicon Valley this week, meeting panel members at Stanford University in Palo Alto.   He and the White House staff put out an announcement that the FCC is going to juice the issue of Internet Neutrality by imposing controls reserved for utilities.  The federal Government will establish the rules for internet traffic control.   This does not sit well with too many peoples, especially Big Internet Service providers.  They want to control the flow so they can not only choose content, but also sell bandwidth to the heavy users/providers.  Also on the program for discussion is cybersecurity.
The SONY Corp. hacking of their company computer system continues to send shivers down the spines of CEO's.  Even if it is known to be North Korea as the source, work must be done to secure company data.  Along with this issue is the issue of government surveillance.  After the edward Snowden revelations last year, Apple, Google, and Microsoft, to name a few, are reluctant to share information with clandestine operations of Federal security services)NSA, CIA, DEA, IRS, DIA, and Homeland Security.   Congressional staff were not in attendance, but, Congress has some powerful influence on the outcome of this quest for internet control.
Time will tell who wins this one.
