YO: Come On. Are You Kidding Me?

Technological innovation  continues unabated.  Some of it makes you wonder.  Now we have Yo!  Those of us of a certain age know about "Yo", popularized by the film character Rocky Balboa played by Sylvester Stallone to great acclaim.  Maybe it started in the streets of Philly, or the gyms of Philly, or the halls of Philly continuation high schools.
So, now we have "Yo", the app.   What does it do?  What is it for?  Why do we need/want it?  There is no 'there', there.  It is nothing, about nothing.  Basically, it sends an alert message to your iphone.  What?  An alert for what? A Tsunami?  A booty call?  My team scored a goal?  My partner found my foxy pocket?  Really!
None of the above.  Some analysts think its the next twitter.  It's a protocol started by a couple of Russians.  Soon, Yo will be available that actually does something of value(?).  In a week or so, real information will attend a Yo message.  Just what we need in our lives: more alerts, more distractions, more attention grabbing electronic connections.  Yow.
Where is all this going?  Nobody knows.
