Bear Alert>Sugar Pine Pt. Park

The Deputy Mayor was on a neighborhood survey yesterday and encountered a local bruin near the entrance to Sugar Pine S. Park.  The bear was off the bike path in some low scrubs, eating when a vehicle on 89 scared the animal and it bolted across the path 20' IFO the Deputy.
The Deputy, a veteran of several such encounters, remained calm, did not run, but waited for the yearling to scamper off into the creek bed and up the hill.
They're BACK!  So, play it safe, follow the rules: DON"T RUN(triggers an instinctual response to chase), spread arms wide, yell and throw rocks, make noise.
   Happy Summer-welcome August.
