Early Harvest at Tahoma Vineyards

The mayor worked like a slave yesterday, harvesting the drought -stricken vines much earlier than prior years.  Sugar/Brix soared over the last 2 weeks, reaching 24 2 days ago(the target number for our style of winemaking.
So with the help of a Sonoma State. U. weightlifter, we got the job done.  By 6 pm, the grapes were picked, crushed, and in the fermenting bins, waiting for the next steps.  This year, we will do a cold soak of the crush to raise color and tannins.  Years earlier, we'd begin fermentation right away.
More notes as we progress to aging barrels.
