Taiwan Snubs Beijing

Last Sunday's election set a new voter turnout record in Taiwan: over 8 million voters went to the polls to help Ms. Tsai's reelection make a statement.  To wit: Taiwanese value their democracy and will support individuals who represent their viewpoint.   Pres. Xi- we don't want unification; we are not and will not be part of the Communist state that abuses its citizens with impunity.  Examples of this abuse are rampant across the mainland landscape, beginning with the Uighurs in the West.  Closer to the Pacific coast we have the abuse of citizens of Hong Kong who realize their days of freedom from oppression are numbered(less than 25 years).
By voting in Ms. Tsai, voters in Taiwan demonstrate support for all of Hong Kong's citizens and its brave protesters who will not back down from the Beijing.  People of Taiwan are living within a booming economy, growing at a rate over 3.2% per year.  few economies can boast anything close to that number.  Its manufacturing index, especially in electronics, is the mainstay of this boom.  Pres. Xi of the mainland says that Taiwan will always be considered a province of China.  Not so say the people of Taiwan.  Even when Beijing threatens to force the issue, Taiwanese do not flinch in the face of such threats.
Power to the people of Taiwan.
