Minister of East Asian Affairs Travels

Our indefatigable Minister of east Asia is on the road again.  100 million or more Asians in China are on the road, somewhere as it is Chinese New Year.  Traditionally, Chinese families want to spend time with family and friends and celebrate the turning of the calendar.  Last year, 2019, was the year of the pig.   This year, the first year of the new 12 year cycle is the year of-THE RAT!
So, our minister is visiting some islands in the Phillippine Islands.  There, some folks celebrate the New Year, but in a local way as this Christian country follows the gregorian calendar.  It's a holiday but the minister will check up on conditions around the Taal volcano which has erupted near Manila this past week.
A report of his findings will soon follow.
