California Fire

350,000 acres at last count. That's a lot of space. Fortunately, the fire is in the agricultural sector of northern California-farmland, grasslands, with few structures. It has taken only about 20 structures and few homes. Many nearby residents have been evacuated, but few lives are threatened. It is high summer with attendant heat and hot weather. This fire will burn for awhile despite the best efforts of 26,000 firefighters on the ground and in the air. Don't overlook the pilots and crews who brave extremely hazardous conditions above the hottest zones as they drop tons of retardent ahead of the flames.

God bless all those men and women at their jobs.
