As most Californians now know, we've had lots of snow! In today's New York TImes, a video is included that demonstrates a new and timely method for measuring more accurately just how much snow is on the ground. Hydrologists routinely take measurements at various times to assess water content. This year, access to established points have been restricted because of : too much snow! So, an aircraft with scientists on board did a flyover and sent results almost instantly to the water resources board in Sacramento. Results so far: the San Joaquin Valley will probably receive more water than it could absorb. Watch it.
Lake Tahoe, California's Alpine playground, is anchored on the west shore by Homewood/Tahoma, straddling two counties:Placer and El Dorado. The mayor of Tahoma posts information related to the area and items of interest to residents and visitors alike. Its goal is to be informative, humorous, and timely. Hope you enjoy the site.
