USCGC TAHOMA-908 |
The Mayor was on the New England coast last week. An amazing discovery was made! Who knew of the ship that bears the name "TAHOMA"? What a revelation! The U.S. Coast Guard cutter is one of the service ships that provides protection and security to our nation's border. The ship and its crew patrols the waters of the Atlantic Ocean, seeking illegal smuggling operations and illegal people smuggling boats. Interdiction of drug carriers is a big part of the mission.

The photo above of the ship captures the ship as it approaches the home port pier where she will be berthed after a lengthy deployment in the Carribbean Ocean. Notice the heavy jackets worn by crew members as she moves through bay waters in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
