These scenes were taken during a tour of Hubei province in China including the city of Wuhan, one of the largest in China, but smaller than its near neighbor Chongquing, the old WW II capitol city used by Chinese government when Japanese army units invaded and drove the Beijing government west.
The hotel pictured here was used most often for Communist Party meetings to coordinate government policies at the provincial level. As control has become more centralized under current leadership, these provincial locations have become less necessary, and operations have moved toward tourist-focused business models.
The airport, recently completed was built in anticipation of future needs requiring more international arrivals and departures from around the globe. Certainly, as the Belt and Road Program advances, this airport will increase in importance.
