The US National Intelligence head reported to the Senate that they are confident that Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin ordered his state hackers to disrupt the US presidential election by creating doubt among US voters in the democratic process and to tilt the election in favor of Donald Trump, away from Hillary Clinton, the percentage leader in October.
Whereas it has been stated that this was the case sometime ago, the official report came out only Thursday of this week. Mr. Clapper, agency head, spoke to senators directly, explaining the content of the report minus the secret sections not made public for security reasons.
Although President Obama has only days left in office, he could still put in place sanctions against the Russyan government in addition to those already in place.
It would seem this would be more than appropriate, given the factual nature of the report and the severity of the tampering efforts by a foreign government. President -elect Trump has repeatedly questioned these assessments by the intelligence community, but in the face of this report, he has been forced to respond with a different position. What he might do when he is in the White House remains to be seen.
