Two teams, one game, winner take all. The two best in college football for 2016 met in Tampa Bay, Florida. Playing before a full house, the teams did not disappoint the millions of viewers. Deshaun Watson, the quarterback for Clemson, put on a show, accumulating 420 yards of offense with three TDs. The last score came on a pass play with less than 6 seconds on the clock when Watson rolled right and threw a strike to Renfrow who was wide open and didn't miss it.
Alabama was the favorite but Clemson proved to be the better team, dominating offensive play for the entire game. They used good defense to contain Nick Saban's Crimson Tide offense, forcing them to punt more than they were used to doing. The Alabama defense spent much too much time on the field and were just worn out by the late 4th quarter. After 'Bama scored a late touchdown to take the lead, Clemson had its work cut out for them. They marched up the field completing one pass after another as the Tigers approached field goal range. They did not stop. After a penalty moved the ball within 10 yards, Clemson zeroed in on a touchdown effort, not wanting a tie.
After the extra point, Clemson 35, 'Bama 31.
Good game.
