The rivalry between the north and the south in California is exemplified by the 60+ years of rivalry between to major league baseball teams: the SF Giants and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Both teams have east coast roots in New York City where they were crosstown rivals with strong fans. Over many decades, the teams have enjoyed being the focus fan support and fan enmity. Long time manager, Tommy Lasorda, often made comments that boasted of LA's superiority. LA won many titles including World Series; the Giants generally settled for 2nd place.
But tonight, it was all SF. While playing at the Dodger home stadium, the Giants were unstoppable tonight. 2Grand Slams punctuated the Giants efforts at the plate. Singles and doubles provided many base runners all night long. A hit here a hit there, then the big punch out of the park. It was the 2nd largest margin of victory by the Giants over the Dodgers at home since 1962. 15-0.
That's right: 15-0! Coach Gabe Kapler will sleep soundly tonight, and the Giants team will boast of this game for years to come.
Well done, Boys.
