In anticipation of a massive crush of illegal immigrants, the Texas governor has ordered 1500 well armed and well equipped soldiers to El Paso to hold the line. Can they possibly help thwart the efforts of illegals who have abandoned all thought of complying with the law. They'll take their chances with the numerous avenues that regularly let these illegal foreignors enter the US.
The White House has little hope of convincing anybody in America or Mexico that these troops will be effective. How sad. The poor people want peace and security that they are unable to find it at home in Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, and Mexico.
So these troops are given the sad duty of trying to hold back a tide that will overwhelm them. Seems to me that the same thing happened in Vietnam over 50 years ago. The US military was understaffed and unable to hold back the numbers of Communists committed to the takeover of the South. Nixon capitulated, and Henry Kissinger signed the documents. And we all know the results of that agreement.
