Tahoma Fire Protection Merger

Finally, we have a new fire protection environment here in Tahoma.  After years of speculation, arbitration and decision making, the meeks Bay Fire District has merged with the North Tahoe Fire District in Tahoe City.  Perhaps this move will restore some fiscal sanity to the spendthrifts in Meeks Bay.  The exact details were not spelt out in the media flier sent to all residents this week, but they are available and will be scrutinized by the Mayor and his staff.   Among other tidbits of info, they new combined district announced new engine purchases, manpower changes(in general-sharing).  While the group praises their own accomplishments, residents will continue to pay local fire department tax assessments on their property tax bills.
