Tahoma's latest tavern restaurant, the Dog and Bear, is closed until further notice. The hand made sign at the door mentioned health conditions as the reason for the temporary closing. This comes during a big holiday weekend when perfect weather for all winter sports is being enjoyed by the entire Lake Tahoe community: north, south, east, and west. Too bad; perhaps the owners(locals) have contacted the virus, or the workers have the virus, or some other condition related to normal functioning of any business during the pandemic. The business opened just a couple of months ago with high hopes, but the Omicron variant arrived and has spread like the proverbial wildfire.(we know wild fire here).
The Mayor's office hasn't talked with the owners, but will continue to update the community on the status of the business.
The coffee house: Where We Met has suspended services as noted for the winter season. It has been sublet to 525 Sushi, a successful operation that ran last winter with great success. They are closed for the week and will reopen after the holiday(MLK).
Driving conditions are good: Highway 89 is generally dry, but there are a few patches of ice at night. Snow piles pushed around the parking lot have limited space without causing much inconvenience for visitors and US postal patrons. The Norfolk Woods eyesore is a snow depository.
