Modern aircraft are designed to fly safely. After 100+ years, aeronautics has reached an enviable position: flying is the safest mode of travel. Media make the most of each accident involving an aircraft designed to carry passengers whether large or small, we hear/read about a crash. Are there fatalities? They will be noted in all reports.
The crash in India recently occurred in dramatic fashion: the final seconds of the flight recorded on video before crashing into a school building and claiming an additional 20 + lives on ground. Investigators have released preliminary information: the fuel to the two engines was cut off moments after leaving the ground. Engines cannot run with out fuel. Once shut down, it takes minutes for engines to restart. Didn't happen. All on board save one, were killed on impact.
Who can explain this tragedy? It will take time, but now the plane, the fuel, the traffic controllers appear to be cleared of responsibility. More news will be forthcoming.
