TRPA Lists Housing Plans for Worker Housing

If one goes to the TRPA website currently, one can see what looks like some future locations for housing as identified by planners at TRPA. As might be expected, there's not a lot of "there" there. With the area on the West Shore identified, one sees that Tahoma has a large section covered on the map. Most of the zone is located north of Pine St, adjacent to Highway 89 and is included in Placer County to the north. A small section extends south into El Dorado county and encompassess downtown Tahoma where we know a few old motel units still stand. These properties are held in private hands and consideration by TRPA as sites for worker/low income housing are fantasies. SOme of these properties are owned by a church group that will soon start operating as meeting places. Already a caretaker is living behind the Norfolk Hotel property and the old Log Cabin is also being lived in a a new tenant(lights on!).

The Tahoma Meadows is now owned by the Homewood developers, thinking ahead for their work force. Good luck, as they are stirring up the locals with their plan to make Homewood resort a private club. Locals are on the march to prevent a change to approved plands from Placer County and TRPA. When will plans be finalized? Who knows. Nothing moves quickly in Tahoe.
