Gina Raimondo: Tough on China

US Secretary of Commerce announces a new approach to trade with China: tough stance in light of the record. Chinese emporer Xi Jin Ping has been glad handing world trade representatives in various countries as he parades the 'feel good' approach to other nations. At the recent Climate gathering he stated that China was onboard with actions to address this 'global' concern. China is moving toward all electric, says XJP; and then announces that more coal-fired electricity generators are being built at a record pace. Hmmmmm. Is there a disconnect Xi?

Ms. Raimondo has made trips to China to negotiate with her peers there. A major issue is the production of modern computer chips necessary for the vast uses now found in almost every new product, and every new military tool/power train/ship/missile. This awareness coupled with the fact that Taiwan is the world's premier chip maker brings this issue to the fore.

Ms. Raimondo is an excellent negotiator and has been a boon to trade for the USA; and not so muchn for US/China trade as she has informed Pres. Biden's cabinet that more must be done to protect not only the domestic industry but also to protect the technology developed here in the USA. JOe Biden is getting the message.
