Giants v. Dodgers: game 3

Well, sports fans, Game 3 of the Nat. League division series is in the books.  The game, held in LA at Dodger stadium, was played before a near sellout crowd of 50k.  It was a windy night in the southland, and the wind did not favor the long ball, or any flyball as the wind was blowing into the infield and essentially knocked down anything hit into the air.

Pitcher Max Sherzer was on the mound for LA and delivered excellent results, holding the sluggers from San Francisco to only one run.  It was a long ball off Sherzer that Evan Longoria got under and into and it defied the winds as it sailed into the center field seats.   For the Giants, it gave them the lead.  For LA, it put them into a corner as they, too, had problems hitting.  Giants defense was again superb, especially late in the game when shortstop Brandon Crawford leaped into the ozone to steal a hit from Dodger Mookie Betts that could easily have tied the game.  Giants starter Wood went 5 2/3 innings and didn't allow a run.   Closer Duval followed the middle reliever with 2 innings of shutball.

Giants Win: 1-0.   Series at Giants 2 w 1 loss; Dodgers 1 win 1 loss.  Tomorrow night, the Giants could win the series with a victory.

Go Giants
