Hong Kong: No Fly Zone

American Airlines and United Airlines announced today that flights to the autonomous state /region of Hong Kong will be suspended indefinitely.   This comes as a result of Beijing's announcement that flight crews of arriving flights from the USA will be tested for the coronavirus.
Currently, passengers arriving from the USA must quarantine for 14 days.   Recently, our own East Asian Minister had to quarantine under government observation for 14 days.   Given the lack of interest among American travelers for visits to China, I think the airlines just followed good business practice: no demand for service equals suspension of service.
This will underscore the turbulence occurring in Hong Kong as a result of Beijing's crackdown on the local movement to thwart the suspension of the 50 agreement made with the UK before the 1997 turnover.
     More to come
