The Ayatollahs are not economists. They aren't even decent politicians. What they are good at is repression, enforcing religious diktats. Follow our rules and live happily ever after. Not. So, the currency, the Rial, has reached a new low against the dollar. Not just any dollar, but an American dollar. It must really frost the Ayatollahs to find their national currency isn't worth as much as toilet paper.
Iranians can wipe their collectives behinds with the Rial because it isn't worth the cost of toilet paper, now being sold at a premium. My, my. How things have changed since the Iranians have taken to the streets. Oh, are they protesting a new Israeli attack? NO. Are they promoting more hatred of the USA? No. Are they upset with inflation? Yes, yes, yes. They can't afford toilet paper. How sad is that. Maybe now the leaders of this sad theocracy will change. Ha.
Change? Now isn't that a novel approach to political action. Why change? Everything is fine. Oh, yes, there are somw economic factors that affect prices but it's only temporary. Where is Salman Rushdie when we need a scapegoat. Sanctions seem to be working. The capture of "Shadow Fleet" oil tankers has upended the flow of oil from Russya to its clients here and there. Even Iran has noted these activities and they stand to lose more. And prices go up as costs go up. Oh, well it's only temporary. And the citizens will finally stop protesting in the streets causing traffic problems. After killing 10,000 Iranians, maybe the protesters and agitators will stay home where they belong. The nerve: protesting against the Supreme Leader. What's that about; shut up.
The New Iran-with Reza Pahlevi waiting in the wings to take over and restore a sad nation state taken over by wackos.
