President of Iran Raisi's Helicopter Crashes

While flying to another airport, the helicopter carrying the President of Iran has gone down in the far north corner of the country. A group of 3 aircraft were flying on a mission carrying delegations of politicians from a meeting in nearby country to discuss the ongoing situation in Gaza involving HAMAS and the State of Israel.

The leader of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has made a statement on national radio and TV announcing the crash and that search and rescue groups are combing the area in the vicinity of the last known location of the helicopter. While nothing else is known about the possible causes, many rebel groups are found operating in these areas and any one of them could be involved. Also, the long arm of the Kremlin cannot be discounted as Kremlin operatives are well known for sowing discord among international players especially in the Middle East and Africa.

The world waits for updates but usually the results are not good for those aboard the missing aircraft.

Updated announcement: 5/18/24

The helicopter crash site has been located and examined: there are no survivors among the passengers  and crew members. It appears that weather and visibility(or lack there of) were factors involved. Communications, if any before the crash, have not been made public. The Ayatollah says the president died in service to the country. How kind of him to say that. really.
