So, the 49ers opened the season in Australia and found Los Angeles tuckered out after a long flight. Now, the 49ers won their 6th in a row against no losses. But they didn't look sharp against a weak opponent.
At the half, the 9ers were up 20-3. The second half didn't inspire confidence as Coach Shanahan's boys made every effort to give the game to Washington Commanders. The Commanders seemed to have figured out the defense and marched down the field again and again. The Sf-ers only squeaked a field goal through adding a measly 3 points to their 1st half totals.
By luck, a penalty nulified a late TD by Washington and SF hung on to win, 23-17. Brock Purdy for SF had a good day, but the defense needs some rehabilitation, immediately.
