Chinese Woman Attacks California Religious Center

In a time of public dissent and protest, there lurks along side some actions the actions of the crazed fanatic. Recently last month a Chinese woman took action on behalf of her mental state to attack a religious community in central California, in Monterey County on the coast. Deep in the Los Padres National Forest, home of the California Condor, there's a Buddhist Meditation Center located at the ancient Tassajara Hot Springs. The San Francisco Zen Center took over the property in 1966-67 and built a retreat area along the Tassajara Creek. Included was a Zendo meditation building in the Japanese tradition.

A Chinese women was a visitor in the summer of 2025 and had been asked to leave the property after disrupting all activities because of her abherent behavior toward residents. The alleged aron event took place in the middle of the night, the fire started externally quickly spread throughout the building, completely destroying the structure. All that was left was a partial statue of the Buddha. Photos were posted on line of the early moments of the fire after ignition.  She was later arrested by the County Sheriff's deputies after the investigation revealed her identity. No doubt she has harbored anti-Japanese sentiments fostered by Beijing recently. The Buddhist practice of the San Francisco Zen Center is from the Soto Zen Buddhist sect found in Japan.

She was released after posting bail.
