It is a big day for the Irish: native son, Rory McIlroy won the Masters Golf Tournament this afternoon, becoming a back-to-back winner, the first in 24 years. And only the fourth pro golfer to do it.
Rory qualified and made the cut in 2009 at age 17; he finished in 20th place at -2 below, an impressive tournament performance at age 19. However, despite brilliant play over the years, it wasn't until 2025 that he won at Augusta. Now, at age 36, he's done it twice to log his 6th major win of his career. Better late than never.
He can return to his roots in Northern Ireland and acknowledge the high accolades he has earned as his reputation is cemented among the greats of the game.
