The Wagner Group, a private army raised by Putin to carry out shadowy military-style operations, has been further exposed for what it is: a gang of thugs funded by the Kremlin, run by an oligarch beholden to Putin, given carte blanc wherever deployed, that answers to no one except the Kremlin and Putin. While banned by Russyan law, mercenaries are a fact of life in today's Russya. They operate without constraint where deployed, donot follow the "rules of war", and are guilty of gross criminal behavior of the worst sort. The only restraint comes from the Kremlin, which is minimal.
